Over The Counter Yeast Infection Treatment For Pregnant Women

According to a survey, about 73% of women who experienced recurring vulvovaginitis, including bacterial vaginosis, turned to over the counter remedies to get rid of their symptoms. This is because most women want to reduce treatment cost and also to avoid costly clinic consultations.
So what over the counter bacterial vaginosis treatment options do you have?
Vaginal anti-itch creams that are available in drugstores include Vagisil, Vagi-gard, Summers Eve, and Equate. They usually have very consumer-friendly price, and are usually found right next to the vaginal yeast infection items.
These creams contain ingredients such as analgesics, anesthetics and anti-pruritics (anti-itch agents). However, these creams only relieve minor itching and have no power to kill germs. They may stop the BV symptoms (e.g. get rid of vaginal odor), but do not treat the root cause of infection.
You need to understand that by using vaginal anti-itch creams, you will only get temporary symptom relief. In a small group of women, these creams may not even relieve their symptoms; instead they even act as irritants or make the symptoms worse.
The fact is, over the counter remedies, when used alone, are not able to get rid of BV permanently. Most of the times these creams are used together with antibiotics; at the end the treatment cost is increased.
There are indeed several OTC products to help alleviate bacterial vaginosis by restoring the vaginal pH and supplementing lactobacilli to the body. Some of these items include tea tree oil pessaries, lactate vaginal gel, and probiotic supplements.
Tea tree oil pessaries can be used inside the vagina and their natural antibacterial properties can help to control the harmful bacteria, which is present in the vagina when a woman has bacterial vaginosis.
Lactate vaginal gels work as pH balancing gel. RepHresh is one example of lactate vaginal gels; it is used by inserting into the vagina with an applicator.
Probiotic supplements are such as powder or capsules containing acidophilus or lactobacillus to be taken orally. One example of the over the counter bacterial vaginosis oral supplement is Fem-Dophilus. Femanol is another one of such products; it contains additional nutrients to help boost the body's immune system (e.g. vitamins B1, B2, B5, and B6).
Natural remedies for BV have shown to be effective for long-term control when compared to conventional antibiotic treatment or OTC remedies. You are able to find from the internet many tips and solutions to deal with bacterial vaginosis naturally.
However, if you didn't use these bacterial vaginosis natural cures in the right way, for the right duration and frequency, you are unlikely to get rid of BV permanently. Only when the methods are employed through a systematic and strategic approach that the natural remedies will work optimally to get rid of BV permanently.
In case you didn't know, there is now a 3-step system to cure bacterial vaginosis naturally and permanently. Learn how you can take advantage of this system in the 3 Days to Permanent Bacterial Vaginosis Relief review.

QUESTION:
i have strep b infection but im not pregnant...what should I do!! PLEASE HELP!?
To start off I just want to say that I am 19 years, and NOT sexually active.Since August 2010, I've been having abnormal discharge, and sort of a fishy smell "down there". No itching sensation, no burning when peeing...so I immediate though was i had BV. I bought some over the counter treatment to see if it would help but nothing....so then i finally when to the gynecologist (beginning of oct. 2019) they did a pap smear and said that I was negative for BV, yeast infection, and all that but they would send my pap test to a different lab for further results. 3 days later i got a call from them saying a had chlamydia. So i went to the gynecologist that day, got my antibiotics, and took it that day. 10 days later (and no i had not had sex since I had diagnosed with chlamydia) ...my discharge STILL continued. it wasn't AS fishy, but its was a creamy, white color...and there was still a smell. So i went to the gynecologist AGAIN. and they took ANOTHER pep test. This time they did a culture. 3 days later, they called me saying that I had strep b.
Now i was confused because usually women who are pregnant have strep b...me i am NOT pregnant. (they took a test when i was at the doctor)
So anyways they gave me 500mg of penicillin -- take one pill every six hours for seven days.
So its been a week since i finished the antibiotics, and STILL NO CHANGE.
I still have discharge. There a tint of yellow, there is an odor. I havent had sex since i had the "scare" with the std also.I just don't know what do to. Should I go AGAIN to the gynecologist...this will be my fourth time goin in less then two months. I'm just so tired of going, and having this freaking problem "down there"

ANSWER:
Hi - Strep B (not Strep A) is commonly found around the vaginal entrance. It is notoriously difficult to get rid of in the uterus.
Read this link about other women with the same condition; amoxycillin seems to be the right antibiotic, and I also see that another woman had 3 anti-biotic ointments/pessaries to use at the same time.
Clearly you should go back to the gynae, armed with any info you can glean from the abovementioned site. If you want to G**gle further, just type in 'strep B uterus'.
Good luck.

QUESTION:
horrible reaction to monistat?
On Tuesday night I began a 7 day dose of monistat. On the 1st and 4th nights I had aweful reactions to them! Within 30 min of inserting the medicine, I had extreme itching and irritation- far worse than I had ever felt during the yeast infection itself. The 4th night was last night and I decided not to finish off the last 3 doses because of the discomfort it has caused me. I am pregnant, which is why I was told to take monistat.
My questions:
1- Have any of you had this reaction to monistat? What did you do?
2- Would my reaction have caused any harm to the baby? (I'm only 5 weeks now)
3- Are there any other over the counter or prescription yeast infection treatments that are safe for pregnant women? (I get yeast infections every few months, so even though I seem better now I think I will have this again)Thank you for any advice!
Well my nurse suggested the monistat, but I am going to ask my Dr about getting a perscription instead.-
ANSWER:
Believe me when I tell you, I feel your pain... On Monday, I took Monistat 1, and by Wednesday night I was in the E.R! I had a terrible allergic reaction, and it basically made everything down there close to raw.. It was basically torture to pee, which is why I ended up there.. I'm sure you can imagine how embarrassing that little trip to the E.R. was.. I will never take Monistat again.. When I spoke to my doctor afterward, he told me that he never recommends Monistat because a lot of women have allergic reactions.. He prescribed Difulcan, which is a pill.. Ask your ob/gyn about it. hope you feel better soon! Today is Sunday, and I am almost back to normal.. But let's just say it was NOT a happy thanksgiving for me.. lol

ANSWER:
GRP B Strep is not for women who are preg. rather women who are preg. get tested and treated for GBS because it could infect the baby. Actually 20-30% of ALL women have GBS as part of the normal vaginal flora-so dont freak out.In the vagina as well as at other places there is a balance between various bacteria and fungus...they keep eachother in check so non of the species get dominant. When you take antibiotics, you mess with the balance so a species of bact. or fungus rise up and move from simply colonizing the vagina to causing an actual infection.
My suggestion is wait a few days before you go back...dont douche or use other chemical, have sex--this messes with the balance as well---and see if it resolves it self. If you get a fever seek medical help as well.

QUESTION:
Anyone with acne/oily skin, try this! I went from severe to clear and super oily to normal FAST & natually?
Sorry, I know this isn't a question. But this is so amazing, and I just wanted to post it here where I know a lot of people would probably read it.I have severe acne and extremely oily skin. Well, I did a month ago, anyway. I recently got on an all-natural regimen that totally cleared up my acne AND majorly reduced oil production. It's so awesome. Here is what I do.
I wash my face with Tea Tree Face Wash.
As a toner I use a mixture of 1/3 natural, 100% Green Tea (which I brewed myself with a tea bag and let cool before adding ACV) and 2/3 Apple Cider Vinegar. This stuff is the best!!! It totally transformed my skin.
And then as a spot treatment, I apply 100% undiluted Apple Cider Vinegar. It works WAY better than Benzoyl 10% or any over the counter product. Even if I have a really large zit, it's FLAT by the morning when I apply this rub this in at night. I use cosmetic pads for the toner and spot treatment.
And that's it. I also drink the Apple Cider Vinegar, 3 Tablespoons a day, and take acidophilus with every meal to keep my digestion and intestines healthy, which helps acne a lot. (As a bonus, it fights against and prevents UTIs and yeast infections, which is great for women, especially pregnant women. I actually got a couple of UTIs and yeast infections since becoming pregnant - I'm seven months now- but after I started taking the ACV and acidophilus, I haven't had a single one.)
The ACV that I use, and seems to be the best out there, is Bragg's Organic Apple Cider Vinegar "with mother".
Btw, another bonus to this is that it's really, really cheap!
Also, just so you know, I had severe acne for 9 years. What did not work for me:Over the counter products (I tried them all), electricity, chemical peels, Accutane, Tetracyclin, Minocyclin, Arithromyacin (i forgot the spellings), special diets, Proactive, Murad, AcneFree...honestly, I don't think there is anything that I haven't tried.
Add birth control to that list of things that didn't work.
lol Another bonus: I got burned really bad twice since I've been on this regimen (I was stupid and went out in the sun way too long without sunscreen). I never had to apply any special lotion or anything. I just applied my toner like I always do, and I never peeled or anything. It just sunk right into a tan, which is VERY unusual for me.
Rita-Lissette, acidophilus is a beneficial bacteria, basically. It's a supplement you can find in basically any store that has vitamins or food. Here's a link to wikipedia's answer to your question:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactobacillus_acidophilus
Tinkerbell!Yeah, I would say that the tea tree soap is the least important part of the routine. I like the tea tree soap, because I like natural things, but you can keep using whatever face soap you use and get the same results, I'm sure! Please give it a month before giving up on it, by the way. A lot of people (me included) had a purging period around Week 2-3 where you break out in tiny white zits (different than my normal ones). Once that went away, I was clear!

ANSWER:
this isn't an answer...but i had a question...
