Natural Cures for Yeast Infections and Candida:

Getting a yeast infection after sex is a very common complaint. But a yeast infection can't be caused by sexual intercourse itself. i.e. two partners without an infection can't suddenly get one after sexual intercourse alone. It usually occurs because at least one sexual partner has a yeast infection which is then transferred to the other during sex.

Some times this happens because the source partner thinks that their infection has already been cured. All too often what has really happened is that the symptoms have disappeared but the underlying causes haven't. Then you can have the scenario where it can be transferred back and forth during sex, making a permanent cure for yeast infection very, very difficult to achieve.

So since sex with a yeast infection is actually 'encouraging' the infection and preventing a proper cure, and sexual intercourse with a yeast infection can be painful anyway, doesn't it make obvious sense to cease sex until a permanent cure has been obtained?

But of course it has to be permanent, not just the disappearance of the symptoms. Because if you think you're cured and start having regular sex again you -- and your partner -- land up in the same vicious cycle; yeast infection - sex - infection - sex - infection, etc.

So given that you'll cease sexual intercourse, you will want to ensure that your cure will be as fast as possible and permanent, with no recurring infections, so that you can quickly resume your sex life. Let's look at how you normally treat yeast infections...

Whilst mainstream treatment using topical creams etc. can give some relief, they can take up to a couple of weeks and more to get rid of the symptoms. But they don't cure the underlying problems and can become resistant to the drugs. The result in many cases is recurring infections and, of course, a much longer wait to begin your sex life again. So this option may not be the best if you want to resume sex quickly and securely.

The other option you have is to go for completely natural cures for yeast infection, without expensive drugs and their side effects. And this is what more and more sufferers are doing around the world, by using a more holistic approach to a permanent cure. And many have reported remarkably fast results.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Has any ever heard that chronic yeast infections can be a precusor to diabetes?
I was reading something that mentioned that and wanted to know if there is any truth to it.

    • ANSWER:
Yes, that is true. Yeast thrive on sugar in the body, so when there's high sugar levels diabetes can develop. First it starts out as insulin reistance, where fasting blood sugars are in the high 90's and low 100's, not quite diabetes but borderline. Also insulin is being produced at high levels and the body gets mixed signals and doesn't get rid of the sugar that well.

When I started to get yeast infectins (never had them before) and a yeast rash on my back I got a fasting glucose, insulin, and A1c. It showed I had insulin resistance. I'm on Metformin ER now and that has helped. Even though I reduce sugars now, I still try to kill off yeast by taking a acidophilus supplement each day. No more yeast iinfections or rshes.

  2. QUESTION:
Protein in urine and chronic yeast infections?
I have had chronic yeast infections that WILL NOT go away for 3 months now, and also high ammounts of protein in my urine. Could these two be related? If so, is there anything I can do?

Also, I don't have diabetes. I know protein in urine and yeast infections are both signs of diabetes, but I was tested and they said that I don't have diabetes.

  3. QUESTION:
Monthly Yeast Infections, Late Periods, & Brownish Discharge?
For about 8 months now I have been experiencing late periods. From a week late to six weeks late. When it finally arrives, it lasts about 4 days. I have also been getting a brownish discharge right around the time I should ovulate, when my period does come. AND Yeast Infection each month right around the time my period should come. I am not on any antibiotics or birth control - because we are trying to get pregnant. What is going on? I asked my doctor, & she just said it was a normal hormonal thing. But now I'm reading all this stuff about Thyroid & Diabetes causing Chronic Yeast Infections. Any insight????
I don't wear think panties or tight fitted clothing. & I sleep in the nude....so it gets plenty of air!! LOL! My husband has not been treated. He shows no signs, if there are any in guys. But, he's on a sub...so he's gone most of the time. If he is home when I start experiencing symptoms, I cut off the sex until it's all clear.
    yeah...that's THICK panties!!!

    • ANSWER:
Since you are having chronic yeast infections, did your physician tell you that your husband needed to be treated for it also. A man can get it from a woman and they keep passing it back and forth. Also a cause of yeast infection is from improper ventilation, our vagina needs to breath too-improper ventilation is like wearing pants too tight and dark underware. I am 51 and I've only had 1 yeast infection in my life (and that was 1 too many) and found out I got it from the jucazzi at the health spa I was going to. After that I never got in the sauna or the jucazzi there.

  4. QUESTION:
    Cures for chronic yeast infections?
I am 24 years old. I got my first yeast infection when I was 11. A few years went by and I was fine. Then, when I was about 17 I started getting them all of the time. If it ever does go away, then it comes right back. I have been to several doctors with no luck. They tested me for diabetes and HIV several times, both came back negative. They did C&S on them and told me I did't have a resistant strain, but I constantly have one and it is really effecting my life, mood, marriage, etc. Any suggestions, or has anyone been through this?

    • ANSWER:
Grapefruit seed extract is good for chronic yeast infections. If you are on the pill you might want to stop taking it as it can contribute to this. Also avoid douching as it alters the ph balance of the private parts. Some women need to use low dose anti-fungals to avoid chronic yeast infections. You should also look at your diet and avoid processed white breads and sugary treats. Eating yogurt everyday is also helpful.

  5. QUESTION:
I have lots of yeast infections and pain during sex?
Does anyone else have chronic yeast problems? And could this be causing the pain with sex? Or could it be something entirely different? My gyn always tells me it's yeast. (I don't believe it's diabetes)

    • ANSWER:
Chronic yeast infections can sometimes be an indication for diabetes. However, ifthat is rules out and you have the same sex partner, he could be infecting you. Males can often be carriers of yeast infections without any symptoms. My suggestion would be for him to be checked out as a possible carrier. In addition, you should not have sexual intercourse during the treatment. And, yes, the yeast infection can make sexual intercourse painful and unpleasant. The vaginal tissues are irritated and the penetration and the rubbing will irritate the vaginal tissues even more.

Other suggestions for preventing yeast infections taken from the link given below:

"How can I avoid getting another infection?
Here are some things you can do to help prevent another yeast infection:

      Don't wear tight-fitting or synthetic-fiber clothes.
      Wear cotton panties.
Don't wear pantyhose or leotards every day.
Use your blow dryer on a low, cool setting to help dry your genital area after you bathe or shower and before getting dressed.
Wipe from front to back after using the toilet. This may help prevent the bacteria that normally live in your rectum from getting into your vagina.
Change out of wet swimsuits or other damp clothes as soon as you can.
Don't douche or use feminine hygiene sprays, deodorant sanitary pads or tampons, or bubble bath, and avoid using colored or perfumed toilet paper. These items seem to affect the balance of acidity of the vagina and can lead to symptoms of a yeast infection."
