   Can vaginal yeast infection effect men after intercourse?
   Can vaginal yeast infection can effect men after having intercourse and contact with the problem causing virus (or whatever) ? that means if my wife is having a yeast infection, if we make love, can it effect me? can i get that itchy, sore problem?

     It's possible for a man to contract a genital yeast infection if he has unprotected sexual intercourse with a partner who has a genital yeast infection. However, just because your girlfriend has a yeast infection doesn't mean you will get one too. Sexual transmission of yeast infections is uncommon.

     Many people are under the impression that only women get genital yeast infections, but men get them too. Prolonged antibiotic use increases the risk of a yeast infection. Also, men with diabetes or impaired immune systems, such as those with HIV, are more susceptible to yeast infections.

     Signs and symptoms of a male yeast infection include a reddish rash, itching or burning at the tip of the penis. Fortunately, most male yeast infections are easily treated with an over-the-counter antifungal treatment, such as Monistat (yes, men can use it too). Apply the medication directly to the affected skin twice daily for a week. If the rash doesn't go away, or if it recurs frequently, consult your doctor.

     If you and your partner have symptoms of genital yeast infection, it's important that you both be treated. Diflucan is a single pill treatment given often to women for yeast infections. Otherwise, you may keep reinfecting each other. Also, it's generally recommended that you refrain from sexual contact until all signs and symptoms of the infection are gone.

   hey all 4 weeks ago i had a hyrocele repair procedure(in short a guold up of fluid in the testicles ) i got that done and was givn augmentin tabs to take for 2 weeks , a week into them i noticed an itch and a redness on the tip of my penis , i thought it was a yeast infection and my mother said that augmentin gives her thrush , my other 2 sisters also got that when they were on augmentin .after about 4 days i went to the doctor and he said it was indeed a yeast infection so gave me a cream called fucibet i mg fusidic acid/betamethasone , i applied that cream and after 10 days of use , the redness persisted with some white sores , also had a yellowy white discharge that smelled pretty bad , went back to the docktor again last week , he gave me flagyl tablets and a cream called daktacort 2% , ive takin all the flagyl and after 7 days of that and applying the cream twice a day the redness is still there , the discharge however is gone as is the itch but the redness is still there , i could not pull back my foreskin last week either for it was impossible to do so cause the skin was tight , i had a shower today and washed out that area just to give it a clean , it looked pretty ok beneath the skin , my penis also is flakey as well now , i dunno if thats cause of the cream or if the yeast infection is not gon , it have to have been the augmentin cause i havent been sexually active in some time , does anyone know if this is normal and the redness will go over time or if its not ??

   • ANSWER:
     The redness should subside in a few days to a week at the most. You should continue to wash well under your foreskin every day in the shower and pat it dry under your foreskin as well when you get out. Never use soap on your inner foreskin or penis head. You should also, rinse under your foreskin a second time thru the day and again pat it dry (gently) with a soft cloth. This will help with the redness and the dry skin.
     Be careful washing, just use water and give it a gentle wipe, as the skin is probably going to be sensitive to touch for a few days.

   are my sores caused from a yeast infection or herpes?
   I think i have had a yeast infection for a few weeks now. i had discarge , buring , itching and pain during sex. well i was waiting to go to my GYN for treatment. well a few days before i noticed what looks like a scratch on my vagina. it burns when i go to the bathroom, and has bleed a little. I have been with the same man for 5 years and have never cheated and neither has he. Someone told me it could be herpes is this possible? I have never had sores before and either has he ?? Plus we have had oral sex and we have never even had a cold sore..

   How to get rid of a man's yeast infection? Help ASAP?
   I had a yeast infection and didn't know about and gave it to my husband. His penis is irritated and sore. How can he get rid of this? He already tried to use vagisil but it hasnt worked?

     Apply an over the counter fungicide like Lamisil AT, Lotrimin AF, or Monostat Derm. Just about anything for "Jock Itch" should work - jock itch is a yeast infection. Don't wash with antibacterial soap because it may inhibit the growth of friendly bacteria that keep yeast-like forms from multiplying.
     Also do not have intercourse until both of you have completed your treatments. As you just found out, couples can pass the infection back and forth making it difficult to kill completely.

   Sore throat and yeast infection?
   I have had a sore throat for a few weeks now. I have performed oral sex on a man....but I didn't swallow any ***. I cannot get rid of my sore throat, and the doctor doesn't know what it is. Yesterday, I noticed that I had a coating on my tongue....I could scrape it off. I went to another doctor, and he said that I have a yeast infection in my mouth. I am freaking out that I may have HIV.....as I have heard that right after you get HIV you can have a sore throat right away! I am freaking out, and am at work right now and cannot leave to go and get tested. Does anyone have any insight to what I could have?? Could it be HIV?? Could it be some other STD?? I also have a lowered immune system as I am on immunosuppresants as well! Any info is good!
   Just to add......I don't think it may be HIV cause of what I have read, but more like gonorhea.....but it still could be HIV. I just worry a lot! The chances of getting HIV are very low through Oral Sex.....hopefully I am right about that!

     first off calm down---I had this same problems a few weeks ago---I wanted to get tested and I was at work---I waited until the next morning and called and said i had to take my mom to the doctor for a procedure and i needed to drive her home and that i would be in shortly--call this number for a clinic that does rapid HIV testing in your area...all it is, is a finger prick of blood, you get the results in 20 minutes.

     The risk of getting HIV through receiving oral sex is very, very low.

     We can't say that there's zero risk, because there are a few cases of HIV infection in people who have no other known risk factors for HIV.

     Also, we can imagine a scenario where an HIV-positive person's mouth is bleeding when he or she is giving oral sex. This could increase the risk of infecting the partner. But, in general, transmitting HIV to someone receiving oral sex is probably a very rare occurrence.
