There could be many more questions you have this article will answer some of the most common and important considerations concerning the yeast infection test and the relatively unknown yeast infection spit test.
If you think you are alone in having yeast infection concerns you most certainly are not. Millions of women (and men as well for that matter) all over the world develop the condition at some stage during there lives for no apparent 'fault' of their own.
As with most diagnostic testing, it is important to consider the whole picture and not just one indicative sign or symptom. If you were to go to a physician the likelihood is you will be asked a number of questions designed to reveal your medical history like whether you have suffered from a similar condition before, for example a skin condition affecting the vagina, vulva, penis or area of skin in close vicinity to the genitalia. You may be also asked about whether you have taken antibiotics for example or whether you have ever had athletes foot or jock-itch.
Depending on your consultant the questioning could be quite comprehensive or it may be that they already have a detailed medical history.
What may also occur is a medical examination where there is a visual inspection of any signs and symptoms of the candidiasis. The symptoms can be numerous.
In women they include the following:
- Vaginal itching or even a burning sensation
- Experiencing pain in the vagina during intercourse and/or urination
- Disharge of 'cottage cheese' like substance usually white but sometimes yellow from the vagina
- General fatigue and lethargy
In men they include the following:

- Red rash on the penis or close to the penis
- White Lesions on or close to the penis
- Itching or irritaiton
- Burning sensation
- Possible minor white discharge
If the symptoms above are present then it begins to point to a higher probably that yeast infection is present and that the candida fungus is excessive or not. It's presence can then be confirmed (or not) by sampling and laboratory testing. In order for a laboratory yeast infection test to be carried out a sample needs to be taken and this is usually a sample of the vaginal white discharge if it is present. It may be necessary to take the sample from within the vagina.
Once tested the presence of the candida fungus that is the source of the infection can be confirmed or otherwise and a course of treatment can be undertaken.
Incidentally, there is a quick and simple test you can undertake at home to determine the severity of the yeast infection which is sometimes referred to as the Yeast Infection Spit Test. This involves spitting some of your saliva into a glass of mineral water or reverse osmosis water. After leaving it and waiting for approximately one hour take a look at the pattern that the saliva has made by looking into the water through the clear glass.
It will either be resting on the surface with 'stringy' bits pointing downwards, suspended mid glass or would have sunk to the bottom of the glass. Each 'result' suggests a stage of severity and the test and results are described in more detail within Linda Allen's book - Yeast Infection No More.

I did the home yeast infection test and it was positive, it's not a constant itching, but an itching nonetheless, but almost all the ointments out there for yeast infection are topical, I was wondering how does applying a topical ointment going to help me when the itching is inside the shaft, and if there are any OTC meds out there. Thanks-
ANSWER:
just got over the same thing, see your md. he/she will put you on antibotics. creams wont work on men like ladys.

QUESTION:
home yeast infection test kit?
has anyone tried that new home test kit for yeast infections, if so does it really work?-
ANSWER:
yes. It's basically a ph testing strip. It can give you an idea if you are dealing with yeast versus bacterial vaginosis. But, if it's your first time dealing with these types of infection, then you should just see your doctor. It's so women can see if they should use the over the counter yeast medication, basically. They work. I've used it.

QUESTION:
Is there an at home test you can take to see if you have an yeast infection?
yeast infection at home test-
ANSWER:
There are no tests that can definitively confirm that you have a yeast infection, but there are tests that can tell you whether or not you have a vaginal infection that may or may not be a yeast infection. These tests usually measure vaginal pH. Vagisil has a screening kit that you can do home that comes complete with a vaginal swab and pH guide that lets you know if you have a yeast infection or something more. Abnormal pH in your vagina can be attributed to a number of factors (including BV) that's why there is no definitive at home vaginal yeast infection test. However, if you want to try to narrow your symptoms or possibilities, try the new Vagisil Screening Kit that can be purchased at Wal-Mart or a drug store. Good luck and I hope this helps!

QUESTION:
Home Yeast Infection Test Kit?
Where could I buy one?
Wal - Greens?
Wal - Mart? How much would it cost also?
-
ANSWER:
both should have them but honestly.... its a waste of money. just buy the monistat 3 day and take it. if you dont have yeast infection then no harm done, if you do its fixed. why spare double the expense when they are both just as expensive. the YI test kits are about -15 and monistat 3 is anywhere from -18 depending on if you buy generic store brand or not. the generic brands work just fine from my personal experience.also, if you want to knwo if you have a yeast infection heres how you tell
feels like an intense itching, burning sensation, localized in your vagina and vulva. this itching is not always present, but can get really bad, so bad you can hardly walk, let alone ride your bike to the pharmacy or doctor to get it treated.
- looks like clumpy nasty white stuff. most medical descriptions compare the discharge to ricotta cheese, but it can range from thick and not clumpy to faintly yellow to thin and clear.
- smells like bread or beer. in fact, it smells pretty much exactly like yeast, although the yeast used in brewing and baking is an entirely different species (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). no bacteria could smell like that, so it's a great diagnostic.
you might not have all or any of these symptoms. to tell about the discharge just stick your finger up your vagina and rub it against the vaginal wall and then pull it out. you'll see discharge.
either way the treatment is easier than testing for it and then buying a treatment for it.

QUESTION:
Symptoms and smell of yeast infection but home vaginal infection test said bacteria infection. Is that normal?
I started to get symptoms of a yeast infection about a month ago. I had my first one a few months ago, so I recognized the symptoms and the odor. This time I didn't have much discharge, but I did have an overwhelming smell of baking bread. I treated with Monistat and it went away for about a day or so. I treated again with Monistat and again got relief for about a day. Every once and a while there is no odor or discharge at all, but for the most part I definitely wake up itchy and this bread smell is strong. I got relief and discharge from the odor when I seriously cut down on my bread intake. Yesterday and today however it was painful to the touch, showering was uncomfortable and it burned. I see not sores or anything. It did feel a little swollen. So with that and since this has been ongoing for a few weeks I figured I should head to the doctor with the knowledge it takes a while to get an appointment. (I love this doctor, apparently so does everyone else!) I decided to take a at home vaginal infection test to see if this could be anything other than a yeast infection. I have had unprotected sex recently.
The test suggested I had a bacteria infection. I have had trichomoniasis before and these symptoms are similar, but seem much more like the yeast infection. In fact the only thing that seems like trich is the itch and burn in the morning and the pain I had today.
So could I have a bacteria infection with this overwhelming yeasty smell?
I am waiting on my doctor to call me to discuss this over the phone since I can't get in for a appointment as soon as I would like.
I'm just curious what others may think.
