Skin Infection Treatment That Is Easy

Persistent yeast infection outbreaks are extremely discouraging for anyone who has reoccurring candida infection outbreaks. Often, you find yourself asking yourself "how do I get rid of my yeast infection". Let's explore some ways to treat your yeast infection and prevent it from recurring.

First - let's go over how you might have gotten a yeast outbreak to begin with. Have you taken antibiotics in the past 6 months? If so, there is a good chance the antibiotics destroyed the 'good bacteria' that keeps the yeast cells in balance in your body. The use of antibiotics can be good in that it targets certain bacteria and illnesses. The downside is that in its quest to destroy 'bad bacteria', the 'good stuff' isn't saved. Thus - you fix the problem (usually), but you create another one (yeast infection) in the meantime. Another source of yeast infection is the presence of excessive sugar in the body. It is common for diabetics to have problems with yeast infection. This is because their body cannot properly convert excess blood sugar into energy. As a result, the yeast grows and multiplies as blood glucose levels rise in the body.

While you can't necessarily stop taking antibiotics, you should take some steps to prevent conditions where the yeast fungus thrives. Particularly areas that are moist and dark (yeast loves this). These areas in your body that are at risk include your vagina (for women) and penis (for men).

1) Wear loose-fitting clothing from your waist down. Don't wear tight panty hose or undergarments. Also, wear 100% cotton underwear - make it unbleached if possible. Yeast is sometimes affected by synthetic materials.

2) Consume less sugar. If you are a diabetic - you should already be doing this - but if you still consume a fair amount of sugar (that is still within the diabetic guidelines) and you continue to have a persistent yeast problem, perhaps it is time to cut back even further.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
For ladies who have had a persistent yeast infection: PLEASE HELP!!?
I need answers from women who have had a persistent yeast infection lasting beyond 1 fluconazole pill. I am talking about months/years.
    Here were your symptoms:
Prefaces: You dont douche/never douche anyways, and are healthy otherwise/do not take antibiotics.
    1) Of course, a yeast infection diagnosed by a medical professional.
    2) Tried all the OTC meds for weeks, diligently following instructions.
    3) Tried Fluconazole 1 pill/1 week plus combination with cream if that is what was prescribed.
    4) Tried Terazole 7 day or 14 day treatment.
    5) STILL have yeast infection after all that.
    6) Infection subsides during period but comes back after your period week is over and last the other 3.
    7) Very itchy vulva with lotion to face cream like discharge.
    8) NO diabetes, NO HIV.

Now side notes, PLEASE dont tell me its your underwear or diet or you stopped douching.. That is all bull now, After a year, of course I wear granny panties all time, NEVER have douched or found the need to wear deodorant anything down there. I do not use perfumed soaps on my body, only Dove my entire life. I wear SKIRTS AND DRESSES, no shorts no pants no swimming no wet clothes. Those are suggestions for people who get yeast infections that are curable from OTC monistat and stuff. I am talking about the PERSISTANT yeast infections not cured for over a year by doctors. LET ME KNOW.

    • ANSWER:
I used to get yeast infections really bad. I am very sensitive to everything( bubble baths, latex, soap, lotion., etc.) I would get an infection then it would go then come back and so on for over a year. I went and saw my doctor. She said not only was it a yeast infection, but it turned into an infection even the OTC drugs cant completely knock out. Now, keep in mind I was always very good on personal hygiene. I have only been with one person, and I am still with him today. I am also 22 yrs old, so I was quite concerned. My doctor told me that if women let yeast infections go over time even the OTC remedies wont work. She put me on a strong antibiotic that killed every infection it could in my body. I then got on "AZO" (you can find at any pharmacy)which prevents yeast infections. I haven't had a yeast infection in 3 yrs!!!!! :) Hopefully I can be of some help.

  2. QUESTION:
How long can a stubborn yeast infection last with out treatment?
I am 18, I have never had sex, and I have been experiencing what I believe to be a persistent yeast infection (5 months). I have yet to visit an OB/GYN for reasons that are to detailed to explain on Yahoo but my symptoms are, constant itching, swelling, skin sensitivity, semi-thick white vaginal discharge and more recently, a clear almost yellow liquid coming from the swollen skin. I am worried that I have waited to long to see the gynecologist and the infection has become a lot more serious. What is your advise, or what do you think I should do?

  3. QUESTION:
Anybody ever have persistent yeast infection? What cured it?
Has anbody here been diagnosed with a persistent yeast infection? I.e. one that does not go away even with a 5 pack of Diflucan and RX strength yeast creams? I had one of over a year and it went away 3 years ago but I have another one that also wont quit and I want to see what may be new in addressing this. If it has happened to you, what did your OBGYN do to fix it? If you are a medical professional, what treatments are best or what should I do (refrain from saying "see your doctor, thats part of my problem Im not sure he is using the best methods)? What options are out there for me to talk to my doctor about? PS, I don't want to overdo the Diflucan becaue I know its not good for the liver. Thanks!
PS, no I dont have an underlying medical cause fueling the yeast infectoin. I know persistent yeast infection could be a sign of HIV or Diabetes, but in my case its not - thats been ruled out. Thanks again!

    • ANSWER:
Experts now recommend vaginal boric acid capsules as a treatment option for vaginal yeast infection, particularly infections that can't be cured by prescription or nonprescription antifungal yeast infection medications.2, 6 Boric acid is a white, crystalline chemical substance that has antifungal and antiviral properties. It is used in various pharmaceutical products and is also available without a prescription.

Clotrimazole vaginal suppositories, 500 mg, once a week
Boric acid vaginal capsules, 600 mg, twice a week.1, 4 Boric acid can kill types of yeast that can't be cured by azole antifungal medications.4
Fluconazole, 100 to 150 mg, orally once a week
Itraconazole, 400 mg, orally once a month or 100 mg, orally once a day
Ketoconazole, 100 mg, orally once a day. Ketoconazole is associated with a rare but serious type of hepatitis. For this reason, it is not often used as treatment for vaginal yeast infections.5

All this was taken from www.webmd.com it got some great articles on yeast infections and chronic yeast infections. Some of the medication I listed had be prescribed some of it didn't. For non-prescription medication read lable carefully and consult your doctor before using.

  4. QUESTION:
    Persistent yeast infection during pregnancy?
So I had a yeast infection at about 14 weeks and my doctor treated with the pill form. I have read it is unsafe and asked her but she insisted it was ok in the second trimester. I tried the monistat 7 day treatment and it caused me to bleed. So she told me to just use the pill. Now I am 18 weeks and I have a yeast infection again! I think it is because of the soap I use, so I am switching that now but any other ladies have more than one yeast infection. I heard they are bad in the second trimester but geez. Any get prescribed anything other than monistat? I do not want to take the pill form again, so what else can be used. I am not taking anything till I consult my ob tomorrow but want to know what you ladies took, or if you had a persistent yeast infection?

    • ANSWER:
With my first daughter I took Diflucan which is the pill. I took it twice and she is fine. With this one I have had a yeast infection since about 8 weeks and my midwife gave me a prescription cream. I read the insert that came with it and it said not to use it in the first trimester so I have used anything. I am now 12.3 weeks and it still hasn't gone away. It isn't causing me too much discomfort and I read that yeast infections can't harm the fetus. But I see my doctor Tuesday and will have him prescribe me something to get rid of this!

  5. QUESTION:
What could be the cause of my very persistent yeast infection?
I rarely get yeast infections (in the past, I've only ever had one after a round of antibiotics). I got a yeast infection out of the blue over a week ago and have tried two home Monistat treatments, but it won't go away. I don't have health insurance and am trying to get an appointment at Planned Parenthood but their waiting list is weeks long.

What could be causing this yeast infection and is there anything else I can do myself to try and remedy it?
I am on the pill (try to take it on time everyday, but have had occasional slip ups), I am in a relationship with someone and having unprotected sex but have not had sex since getting the yeast infection over a week ago so he has not been infected. I am testing yearly for STDs and am clean.

I have also been taking 2 acidophilus supplements everyday.

I've pretty taken in and tried all the advice I could find and still have had no luck.
I'm looking for some other options and advice now, while I wait to see if I can get into Planned Parenthood anytime soon.
