 ... Yeast Infection – Candida Diet Treatment | Yeast-Bladder-Infection

Yeast infections are essentially a candida fungus infection that occurs most commonly in moist areas of the body. These infections are frequently brought about by antibiotic or steroid use, menstruation and menopause, and use of birth control pills. In some cases certain conditions like diabetes or the administration of chemotherapy in cancer patients can contribute to the problem.

A yeast infection is not just like a normal itch. Left unattended, it can become quite painful and spread to other parts of the body. Although yeast infections are frequently embarrassing, they must be treated before they become more serious.

The most common yeast infection symptoms include itching, rashes, a white mucus-like discharge from the vagina, pain during sexual intercourse, and a burning sensation while urinating. Any of these symptoms may be indicative of a candida yeast infection, and should prompt a visit to the doctor.

Most candidal infections can be treated at home with over-the-counter or prescription medication and cleared up within a week or so. Various creams and ointments are available that can be applied topically to the affected area. Thorough washing of the surrounding areas at least twice a day with Neutrogena soap can help to address the infection.

So, what steps can you take to make it easier to identify and manage a yeast infection? Keep a journal of any symptom that you may encounter. For instance, when you first feel itching or discomfort in a moist area, make a note in a journal. Or when you experience pain or discomfort during normal activities such as sexual intercourse or urination, make a note of it. Then on a regular basis keep track of any changes in these symptoms.

Once an ointment or course of treatment has been prescribed for you, keep another journal in which you describe the results. Have the symptoms improved? Are they worse? How long does it take for the symptoms to clear up?

If you are taking prescription medication for your yeast infection, keep a record of what you take and when. Is it helping the symptoms? Are there any side effects? Keep track of when side effects occur and how severe they are. Having this information handy will help your doctor prescribe the treatment that best addresses your overall health.

Setting up journals like the ones described here is easy to do. You can use a paper worksheet, a computer word processing program, or even a spreadsheet program like Excel.

You owe it to yourself to take an active role in managing your own health. Yeast infections are easy to treat if you attend to them quickly. However, failing to deal with the problem can allow the infection to spread making it much more serious and difficult to treat. You need to use every tool at your disposal to make sure you get the best results possible.

  1. QUESTION:

I've had 2 before, when i was pregnant with my 2 sons, so i know what it looks like...I want to try to avoid getting in to be seen b/c it such a pain to get a sitter and schedule it, etc...
    Here are my symptoms:

    ~Itchy-burning.
~Whitish discharge that looks a lil clumpy.

I'm pretty certain it is, but i figure i'd get some opinions first. I would like to just get the treatment at the store witout being seen., because im positive its yeast infection. Thanks!

I have been with my BF for 5 yrs., so i'm not single, sleeping around, lmao...thought'd id add that!
WHICH MONISTAT SHOULD I GET??...ITS NOT SEVERE. THERES TOO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM

    • ANSWER:
those are the symptoms! go to the store and get some over the counter stuff. vagisil or monistat!

  2. QUESTION:
Yeast infection not responding to treatment....do I have HIV? HELP!?
I have been treated TWICE in the last four months for a yeast infection that will not go away. The last time I could have been exposed to HIV was EXACTLY FOUR MONTHS AGO, which was around the same time my yeast infection began. The only way I could have gotten HIV, though, was by getting a bikini wax (my skin broke i.e. I was bleeding, the lady didn't use gloves and I DON'T KNOW if she had cuts on her hands as I was in too much pain to pay attention). Anyways, I heard that persistant yeast infections that don't resond to medication are early symptoms of HIV in women. I was tested at the three month mark and my results came back negative. But I'm also stressed out all the time and I'm anemic, which could contribute to a late seroconversion period (6 months). I don't know if I can wait another 2 months to be tested and I am losing sleep over this. HELP!!!!!
The first time I was treated with Diflucan (one pill). The infection came back two weeks later and the second time I was treated with Gynazole 1 cream, which was 2 months after my first treatment. It's still there though!

    • ANSWER:
I don't think you are HIV positive. Calm down. First did a doctor diagnose you with the yeast infection or did you decide that it was a yeast infection and buy stuff like Monistat to treat it yourself. Sometimes vaginal bacterias can be confused with a yeast infection, but they are treated differently. For a bacterial infection of the vagina you will need antibiotics either by mouth or in cream form or both. Get to the doctor. Remember diet is important too when dealing with recurrent yeast infections. Start eating some yogurt with active cultures like Yoplait every day. If you don't like yogurt then you can take acidophiles capsules, which are sold next to the vitamins. Make sure you keep them in the refrigerator after opening the bottle. Next throw out any pantyhose you may have been wearing. Cotton underwear only, no nylon. No tight fitting pants. If you go to the gym, make sure you don't sit around in sweaty close after wards. You need to stay dry and cool down there. Good luck.

  3. QUESTION:
yuck! yeast infection.... women or Dr. only?
I just went to the store and bought the one-day Monistat treatment. I've never had a yeast infection, so I'm kinda new to all this....

How long until I'm "treated"? I mean, I know its a one-day treatment, but does that mean that I'll be totally better and cured in one day? or longer?

It says don't use tampons or have sex until you're all the way treated, but how long should that be? Do I just wait until all my symptoms are gone? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    • ANSWER:
No, it's not over in one day. The medicine stays in your body, and works over 3 to 4 days. And no, you'll want to avoid having sex or using tampons if you want the medicine to work. 4- 5 days should do it. If your symptoms don't clear up in that time, you should see a doctor. I also think it's interesting that you self-diagnosed a yeast infection, but said that you've never had one before. If it truly is a yeast infection, you're doing the right thing ... don't worry.

  4. QUESTION:
Do i have a yeast infection (women only please)?
Now i read that a yeast infection can occur after taking antibiotics. Which i feel is the case for me (this happened 2 days after i took the antibiotic), but i find it strange that this is the first time i have what i think is a yeast infection because i've taken that antibiotic many times before. (amoxcicillin)

    Here are my symptoms:

Recently my labia minora has been peeling.. A LOT. i can take off some skin basically and the same for my clitoris too. And this has never ever EVER happened to me before. I've also been having some white discharge. Im not too sure if its related to what i think is a yeast infection or if im going to have my period soon. It's incredibly itchy around the vaginal opening and inside the vagina, and the skin itself stings when i try to wash myself with water. There is no odor at all.

Are there any home remedies or over-the-counter treatments that are going to work for sure?

I don't really have a chance to go to my gyno anytime soon so if anyone could give me their diagnois of what they think this may be, it would be greatly appeciated.

And FYI: im 17 years old. Im incredibly clean down there and i've only had sex with 1 person. We both lost our virginity to each other and we've been together ever since so i do not think this is any STD of any kind. We also haven't had sex in nearly a year.

    Thanks :)

    • ANSWER:
there is vagasil which is a creme that helps relieve you but does not get rid of the infection.
im pretty sure that monistat is an over the counter treatment to get rid of the infection.
dont wash with soap just water

  5. QUESTION:
This is a little embarrassing....yeast infection?
    Hello,
Ok. This is more than a little embarrassing...any women who have experienced this, I would love some help.
I have lately had some trouble with yeast infections. My first question, is this really a yeast infection? I have many of the symptoms, so I'm pretty sure. my symptoms are as follows...
    Very itchy
    Burning feeling when I pee
I don't have a "cottage cheese" discharge, but its very thick/gooey and sometimes slightly yellowy.

I am sexually active and I am on birth control. I know birth control can cause yeast infections, so I am changing brands in my next cycle, so in about two weeks. but in the meantime, is there any way I can get rid of the symptoms? I used Canesten 1 day treatment, and it worked for a couple days, and then the infection came back. My guess is that it came back due to the fact that i am taking birth control still. i am currently on alesse 28, and I am switching to tricyclen low.

Any suggestions or tips would be wonderful, thank you!
